Mental Models, Logical Fallacies, and Bias

This session explores mental models and new ways of thinking to improve decision making. In this context, we consider logical fallacies and bias. We go through a variety of logical fallacies and bias which humans are subject to. This exploration is critically important in the age of modern AI. We look at how bias impacts on systems and people, and how managing bias blindspots will benefit business. The logical fallacies are tackled with a view on how these can be used to gain business traction, or how we can use these as frameworks for better decision making while avoiding blind spots.

Wield Modern Magic

Wield Modern Magic is a keynote that looks at the power of technology we all have access to. It's about frugal innovation, and the ability to make change with the tools we have. We have powerful tools, unlike any generation before us. We have the ability to use these tools to make change, and we underestimate how powerful we are. This keynote will show examples of real innovation, and the obstacles to it. It will not guide audiences in an approach to making innovation happen under constraints, but also instil them with the sense that they have the power to create meaningful change.

AD ME

This talk offers insight into doing the right thing for organisations seeking to imprint a moral identity. We're in the age of purpose driven business, and differentiation of organisations is happening via this mechanism. Purpose is core to values and identity. The world sees our actions, not our intentions. Over time, other people's model of us shapes our model of ourselves. Therefore, integrity isn't about being good when someone's watching — it's about sculpting who you become through what you do, even in private. Alternate framing: Integrity isn't a virtue you possess — it's a cascade you set in motion. The model of you that lives in others' minds is built entirely from your actions, not your intentions. This creates a closed loop: Actions → Others' model of you → Your model of yourself → Your identity → Your future actions
